January 14th, 2011 Fishing Report ~
The weather has definately cooled down a bit here in Cancun but there is still some great fishing going on.
Offshore the Sailfish are there in good numbers so if you would like catch one of these majestic Billfish, right now is the time.
The inshore fishing has still the resident Baby Tarpon to offer and Snook fishing has been great also.
October 2010 fishing report.
After a long hot summer things are finally cooling down here, that is temperature wise not fishing.
Today the 19th of October we took out a fly fisherman who has been fishing the flats for a few years at different locations and never landed a Tarpon so that was on the top of his list.
He went out on our six hour trip and after a few bites and again losing it on the jumps he finally landed his first Tarpon.
He had about 20 bites today and ended up landing 4 Tarpon all about 10 to 15lbs in weight.
Needles to say he was a happy camper and is going out again this coming Thursday.
Apart from Tarpon, Snook are starting to show up, as the water is cooling down a bit, they love hanging out in the shallows to warm up.
A couple of 10 year old kids went out a few days ago with their dad and wanted action.... so we got them some live bait and took them Snapper fishing in the Nichupte lagoon.
In 4 hours they ended up catching about 20 Mangrove Snappers, 7 Baracudas and 4 Jack Crevallies.
They took some to a nearby restaurant with their dad and had some nice lunch.
I love the cooler months down here, the sun is not as strong anymore and no more dripping in sweat while fishing.
Tight lines,
Martin.
