Cancun Fishing Report November 2026

Winter has officially arrived in Cancun! It feels a little cooler at times but day time temperatures are still in the mid 80s.

We had quiet some rain end of October but at the moment it's all clear skies.

After the rain it really activated the Tarpon that roam around in the lagoon of Cancun. Also the winds have dropped which make conditions perfect for fly fishing in Cancun. Nothing better than sight fishing for the Silver King on any type of tackle. The Snook fishing has been ok but lately they have been very close the the mangroves so a picture perfect cast is needed to hook up with these hard fighting fish.

Other species that you can expect to catch include Snappers, Jacks and Barracudas.

The deep sea fishing in Cancun has been pretty productive on the bottom. Snappers, Groupers, Amberjacks and Triggerfish have been caught on a daily base. Also conditions are nice out there at the moment as winds have been light so sea conditions have been pretty calm.

While trolling we've been catching Barracudas, King Fish and the first Wahoos have been starting to show up.

Sargassum Update:

Beaches in Cancun are pretty much free of sargassum, just a few patches here and there and the blue waters are back in the Hotelzone which is why tourist love to come here.

Down south ( Puerto Morelos, Playa de Carmen, Tulum) has clean beaches for the most part and Playa del Carmen and Tulum the ocean waters are turning blue again as well. It doesn't smell anymore as it has been collected by boats and barriers before is reaches the beaches and the small amounts that does reach the shore gets cleaned by tractors.

The hotel occupancy has gone up to about 65% so it is getting a little busier but you don't really feel it once you're down here so November is a great month to visit.

Tight lines,

Martin
